Located in the Northern Alps at an altitude of 1000 meters, Abondance is 35 minutes from Evian and Lake Geneva, 15 minutes from the Swiss border and 1 hour 30 minutes from Geneva. This AOP labelled cheese can be enjoyed just as much on a platter as well as in their traditional dishes, such as the local specialty, Berthoud, which can be discovered when you open the door of the many restaurants in the village. Abondance is a village in the Pays d’Art et d’Histoire of the Abondance Valley and the Pays d’Evian most notably the Abbey. The Abondance ski area is nestled in the heart of an unspoilt natural paradise, just at the entrance to the Portes du Soleil ski domain. The Essert ski area is the perfect place to learn to ski and have fun. It is particularly well-adapted to beginners and families: from green runs to black, everyone will be happy!
At the Ludoffaz snow front, located a stone’s throw from the village, the magic carpet gives you easy access to trying out winter sports for the first time and having fun sledging.
The more experienced can go further afield onto the French-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski domain from Abondance by using the shuttle buses provided.
