You have access to two domains: the Abondance Valley (300m from the village) and Lake Plagnes (5km from the village).
A magnificent free and groomed 3km loop for cross-country or Nordic skiing.
Only a 10-minute drive from the village centre, the Nordic site at Lake Plagnes will enthrall you with its winter landscape.
At an altitude of 1191m, between the forest and plains, this wild domain is ideal for Nordic activities: ski joëring, dog sledding, snowshoe excursions, ski touring, etc.
Its enchanting environment guarantees a unique time in the open air!
Nearby car park and onsite restaurant open at lunchtime during the school holidays.
FREE ACCESS
A new 2-3km cross-country ski loop has just been set up on the Offaz plain.
It links La Chapelle d’Abondance and Châtel and includes:
• 9 cross-country ski trails (23km) including 1 for beginners:
• 2 green: 2.4km
• 4 blue: 7.8km
• 2 red: 11km
• 1 black: 1.8km
• 8 Nordic trails (cross-country skiing, walking, snowshoeing)
• a fun activity area, a biathlon shooting range
• a Nordic centre open 9 am-5 pm
You can purchase your mandatory badge at the Panthiaz ski pass desks (at the Chapelle d’Abondance).
Our instructors can teach you this discipline. The ESF has shooting ranges and rifles so that you can train in the best conditions, in complete safety! Warm up well before coming, it is necessary to know how to move around in Nordic skiing before doing an initiation session in biathlon.
Group lessons are offered:
Christmas holidays: Tuesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
February school holidays: Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Outside school holidays: Saturday from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The Nordic, day and weekly passes can be recharged online. For reloading, you must be in possession of a specific Nordic card at the price of €1 per card. Other possibilities: the purchase of your passes at the La Panthiaz ticket office or at the Crêt-Béni chairlift.
