Abondance’s ski resort is linked to the Portes du Soleil ski domain, one of the largest ski domains in the world. Indeed, La Grande Odyssée will travel through the landscapes of La Chapelle d’Abondance on Monday January 9 and Bernex on Tuesday January 10, 2023. The passage through our two mountain villages will immediately follow the first stage, which will take place in Megève!

The typically Savoyard heritage with its 12th century Abbey, traditional houses, its view across the surrounding peaks, its gastronomy, and cheerful locals. It’s impossible not to be seduced by this mountain village’s attributes and all its charm.
In Abondance, the Essert ski domain, and its 17km of slopes, will open from 17th of December 2022 to 26th of March 2023. The village also has shuttle bus links to the Portes du Soleil ski domain, one of the biggest domains in the world.
Built in the 12th century, the Abbey made its mark on the history of Abondance village and shaped the lives of its inhabitants. Situated in the centre of the village at the heart of the Chablais massif, between Lake Geneva and the Swiss border, in 1875 this treasure became the first Savoyard building to be classified as a historic monument. Its abbey, remarkable cloister and convent buildings make the Abbey a centerpiece of the Pays d’art et d’histoire pays d’Evian – vallée d’Abondance.
La Maison du Fromage Abondance groups three activities in the same place: a cheese maturing cooperative, an Abondance cheese information centre, and a shop selling local produce.
During a fun, scientific, and sensorial visit, discover all the peculiarities of this valley’s iconic cheese. From cows grazing in the meadows, pastures carrying the sweet odours of maturing cheese, to the cheese’s manufacturing stages: Abondance cheese will reveal all its secrets!
